Introduction
Govee TV backlights are one of the easiest and most impactful smart home upgrades you can make. In less than 30 minutes, you can transform your TV viewing experience with dynamic, screen-synced lighting that reacts to every scene. This step-by-step guide shows you exactly how to install Govee TV backlights in your Malaysian home.
What You Need Before You Start
- A Govee TV backlight kit (choose based on your TV size: 46–60 inch, 55–65 inch, or 75–85 inch)
- A clean, dry surface behind your TV
- The Govee Home app downloaded on your phone (iOS or Android)
- A 2.4GHz WiFi network (Govee does not support 5GHz)
Step 1 — Measure and Select the Right Kit
Measure your TV diagonally in inches. goSmartAsia stocks Govee TV backlights for 46–60 inch, 55–65 inch, and 75–85 inch televisions. For the most immersive experience, the Govee Envisual TV Backlight T2 uses a dual-camera system that reads your screen in real time and replicates the exact colours onto the backlight strip.
Step 2 — Clean the Back of Your TV
Wipe down the back of your TV with a dry microfibre cloth. The LED strips use an adhesive backing — dirt or dust will cause the strips to peel off over time. Make sure the surface is completely dry before applying.
Step 3 — Apply the LED Strip Around the TV Frame
Starting from a corner, peel and stick the LED strip around the perimeter of the back of your TV. Follow the included guide for routing the strip around corners. Do not stretch or bend the strip at sharp angles — use the included corner connectors if needed.
Step 4 — Mount the Camera (if applicable)
For the Govee Envisual and Flow Pro models, attach the included camera to the top centre of your TV screen facing inward. The camera reads the colours from your screen and automatically syncs the backlight to match what you are watching — including Netflix, games, and live sports.
Step 5 — Connect to the Govee Home App
Plug in the control box, download the Govee Home app, and follow the in-app setup wizard to connect to your WiFi. Once connected, you can control brightness, colours, and scenes directly from your phone or by voice via Alexa or Google Assistant. Enable 'Video Mode' for automatic screen sync.
